HPV Causes Many Types of Cancer and Is Not Treated

Today is the World Day against HPV, the human papilloma virus. Its carriers - more than 80% of the world's population. The virus is transmitted in both sexual and domestic way. HPV causes cancer and is not treated. The only way to resist it is the vaccine. In Russia, representatives of the medical community are in favor of including it in the national immunization schedule. So far this initiative does not find support from the authorities.

Scientists have discovered more than 600 strains of papilloma viruses (according to another version - more than 150). They manifest themselves in the body in different ways. Some provoke a rash on the body, others cause benign and malignant tumors, still others do not manifest themselves in the body.
The strains that provoke cancer are most troubling. They distinguish 15 species. Some provoke cancer of the reproductive organs, others - breast cancer and several types of lymphomas. The most common - the 16th type of HPV, and it most often leads to cancer.

Sexual infection and not only In recent decades, the number of cases of laryngeal cancer provoked by HPV has increased. An oncologist, a world-renowned expert in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer pathology, Christoph Zielinski, connects this with the fact that infection can occur during oral sex.

Human papilloma virus is transmitted through sexual contact. You can also become infected through open wounds on any parts of the body. The virus can penetrate into a person in the pool, sauna, it can bring an unscrupulous manicurist or dentist. But the most common method of infection is sexual.

About 40% of adolescents who have already begun to have sex are infected with the HPV virus, in adult women this figure is below 12–13%. The number of infected men is not precisely established. According to experts, the HPV virus is not treated, but all the clinics that offer this service simply deceive their patients. In this case, the body's defenses successfully destroy most viruses within a year or two. But immunity against the virus is not produced, so they can be infected an infinite number of times.

Prevention is the only proven way to fight HPV. There are several types of vaccines. But most doctors agree that it makes no sense to vaccinate adults. If a person is already infected with HPV, the vaccine will not work. It is necessary to vaccinate adolescents who have not yet begun to live sexually.

Need a Vaccine

With the proposal to include a vaccine against HPV in the Russian national immunization schedule, physicians have been approached more than once. For example, this wish was expressed by representatives of the Union of Pediatricians of Russia. Until now, this issue is being considered, but so far only in some regions massively vaccinated against HPV, for example, in Moscow.

“We have repeatedly, during various events, proposed to expand the national immunization schedule, including the inclusion of the HPV vaccine. But while the authorities are not in a hurry to make this vaccination mandatory, ”said Alexander Rogachev, Academician, Director of the National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology named after Dmitry Rogachev.

At present, 86 countries have already included the human papilloma virus vaccine in their national immunization program, and in 16 of them they vaccinate both girls and boys.

As Galina Minkina said, the number of infected people today is decreasing only in countries where mass vaccination of adolescents is being conducted. Over the next few decades, a complete victory over cervical cancer, which is caused by human papilloma virus infection, is expected.

But Russia is already on the path of the civilized world. In the metropolitan health department, they announced that in 2019 they would purchase 55 thousand doses of human papilloma virus vaccine for prophylactic vaccination of girls aged 12-13 years.

“Vaccination against human papilloma virus is being carried out, which is included in the regional calendar of preventive vaccinations in Moscow. It provides for triple immunization against human papilloma virus of girls aged 12–13 years, as well as boys, ”said Elena Bogorodskaya, deputy head of the metropolitan Depzrava.

According to experts, by 2050 the incidence of cervical cancer in our country will double, if in the near future HPV vaccination will not be available to all Russians.
